One of the VERY first things we do to a new COPO when it enters our shop is to upgrade the stock ATI transmission.
The stock transmission does not have a clean neutral valve body so the engine is put under a great load after the finish line once you let off the throttle and it cannot be shut off immediately.
After our upgrades, the car can be shifted into neutral from high gear (made easy with our PPP forward pattern shifter), protecting both your engine and transmission.
While this is being done, it's also a good time to change your gear ratio and update your torque converter to better suit the output of the engine combination in YOUR COPO.
